Stand Up Against Poverty, End Poverty Now

The United Nations enlisted Citizen to help promote their 2009 Stand Up Against Poverty program, which broke the Guinness World Record for largest mobilization of people for a single cause. 173,045,325 people participated in the Stand Up event worldwide.

We were able to provide the tools to unite these disparate groups through online event registration and Google map geolocation. We also gave them the ability to download materials to promote their event, and had an interactive poster creator from which they could make and print their own fliers. Throughout the three day event, the site was updated with media and news from events occurring across the world and the progressing count of the number of participants. We also built an embeddable widget that from which users could virtually "stand up" and be counted from a site or blog.

We will continue our relationship with the UN and Stand Up in 2010 where we hope to introduce even more interactive features and media components to the event, that will form a collective voice from all continents.
